The road...

There are many metaphors and sayings regarding roads.

Road of life: eluding to our journey, hope and human spirit
Take the road less traveled: encouraging us to explore our own path

A road is simply a route between two or more destinations.

My "road" to Uganda brought me not only to the physical birthplace of my mother but also to my ethereal birthplace.

Standing 9,256 miles from San Francisco (my home now) and 7,358 miles from Detroit (my home as a child); I was awestruck at the realization of ALL that had to come together and to be overcome for me to be born into this world: least of which a former Ugandan nun meeting an Irish American, Catholic Holy Cross Brother in Africa in the 1960's; falling in love; getting married there before moving to Detroit at a time when interracial marriage was a crime in 17 states.

My "road" stretches across states, oceans, countries and continents...next stop Ireland.
