About the Author & Artist
SHEILA NGONZI HACKBARTH is a tenacious wine and spirits sales director by day and an aspiring published author and artist by night. A writer who evokes curiosity, rawness and compassionate storytelling seeks readers that embrace all that unites us. Each journey explores both the beauty and darkness that differentiates and divides us. She is a member of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators and is the founder of Creative Abundance LLC which champions the artistic aspirations of writers, artists and illustrators. Sheila has written three children’s picture books. She is also working on a debut, YA novel called “A Prayer Before Dreaming".” Sheila lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and two sons along with their beloved Rhodesian Ridgeback dogs, Kizzy and Kai.

Mission Statement
My mission is to explore stories that share a common human tenderness yet also challenge us to think beyond what we think we know. I wish to inspire connected humanity and personal growth through courageous conversations. I will promote inclusivity in the publishing industry by sharing other works by diverse authors especially women of color. I plan to utilize other art forms to create connection, intrigue and inspiration.

My road to Uganda brought me not only to the physical birthplace of my mother but also to my ethereal birthplace. Explore my roots and my journey across the many roads I encounter.
